The Colorado Democratic Party Platform Committee has thus far drafted a short plank for a truly independent 9/11 investigation. It is not bad, but needs to be stronger.

Here is the CDP PC recommendation thus far:

Investigations:

Trust in our government and our democracy has been severely eroded in this new century as falsehoods have been spread to start unwarranted wars, torture has been condoned or ferreted away to foreign shores, the privacy of our own citizens has been invaded, and facts have been ignored or concealed regarding government involvement in and response to national crises. To restore transparency and confidence in our institutions and to honor the American ideal that “no one is above the law,”

We call for:

1.    38. A truly independent Grand Jury and public investigation, with subpoena power and the power to grant immunity, into anomalies ignored by the 9/11 Commission.

2.    39. Reviews of the investigations into the illegal invasion of Iraq, Abramoff and other lobbyists, the response to Hurricane Katrina, and other major issues.

Investigations:

For many reasons, mistrust in our government and our democracy has reached crisis proportions. Ten years later, September 11, 2001, remains a pivotal moment in US and world history, as it has been the engine that has driven the “war on terror,” unwarranted wars, and the condoning of torture, and in the name of national security has triggered unparalleled attacks on constitutional rights, such as domestic surveillance of US citizens, illegal detention of immigrants and US citizens, and an “assassination list” for specified Americans abroad.

The 9/11 Commission chairs have admitted that significant information given them by NORAD turned out not to be true and that they were stonewalled by the White House. Among many other criticisms, there were egregious conflicts of interest within this commission, and much of the information that informed their final report was derived from the torture of prisoners.

Even though there was ample evidence of explosives in the World Trade Center dust, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has refused to test for explosives or pyrotechnic materials, which is routine and specified by the national standard for fire investigation (National Fire Protection Association or NFPA 921), and NIST has refused to disclose its computer model upon which it based its theory of collapse initiation of the Twin Towers.

To “restore science to its rightful place,” to restore transparency and confidence in our institutions, and to restore the American ideal that “no one is above the law,”

We call for:

1.    38. A truly independent Grand Jury and public investigation, with subpoena power and the power to grant immunity, into anomalies ignored by the 9/11 Commission.

2.    39. An independent investigation, with subpoena power and the power to grant immunity, into the source of orders that resulted in torture, torture sites, rendition, illegal detention of nationals and immigrants, and related issues.

3.    40. Reviews of the investigations into the illegal invasion of Iraq, Abramoff and other lobbyists, the response to Hurricane Katrina, and other major issues.

If you are a delegate to your county assembly, please consider taking either of these–but we hope you’ll choose the second one–and do your best to get it adopted by your assembly participants.

You can inform them that the Colorado Platform Committee has recommended the first one, but we need to specify reasons for a new investigation since many people do not know about the failure of the 9/11 Commission or of the NIST study. Also, it addresses the great need for accountability for the orders for torture.

Let your caucus attendees know:
This is a difficult and painful issue to face, but if we do not find out what really happened on 9/11, life will be even more difficult for us all in the future–more “war on terrorism,” more false-flag operations, more loss of liberties. Is that what we want?

This process may require getting a petition signed at the assembly, so call your county chair to find out what the procedure is for getting this plank established on your county platform.

The more counties that adopt this, the greater the probability it will be adopted as a plank for all of Colorado.

Once again, this is, at the very least, a great opportunity to educate many people!

Proponents of the SPP and TILMA say that they are needed to keep trade flowing; opponents say these agreements not only undermine the democratic authority of citizens, they threaten the sovereignty of the three nations through the integration of military, security structures, and regulatory regimes.

Colorado is the only state that has the distinction of having a plank on its Democratic Platform calling for a new, independent 9/11 investigation! If there is not a concerted effort to present resolutions at our caucuses and then to our county assemblies, this plank may be removed, and we definitely want to keep it there!  (Yes, there may be an effort by some Democrats to remove it.)

Here is what you can do to help:
Go to your precinct caucus to get the resolution passed there. If enough precinct caucuses pass the resolution, it should automatically be added to your county assembly platform, but find out to be sure!

The county platforms go to the Colorado Democratic Party Platform Committee, which then decides which resolutions will be adopted as planks for our state platform, and these will be published as the 2012 Colorado Democratic Platform.

Resolutions for you to take to your caucus: There are three versions–a very short, a short, and a long version.

Take several copies of the very short version and/or the short version for your caucus attendees–probably a dozen will be enough. (Or, you may create your own short version from our long version if you prefer–no more than one page!)  Take at least one copy of the long version for your own reference as you speak about the resolution. You could take a second copy of the long one to share.

Scroll down to see “short videos to show.” If there is time and interest, if you have a laptop, and if there is wifi at your precinct venue, these can  be very convincing. Usually, there is very little discussion allowed, so be brief and respectful in your presentation.

See this as an educational opportunity:

The least we can do is inform our fellow caucus attendees that we need to know the truth about what happened on 9/11. The long version of the resolution will help you to present with confidence, so read that beforehand.

Let your caucus attendees know:

Call your County Democratic Party chair to find out the process for your caucus and assembly. Especially, ask about the steps to get a resolution on your county’s platform. This may be different for each county.

Volunteer to be a precinct caucus chair.

Even if you are not elected as a delegate or cannot go to the county convention and assembly, see if you can get the resolution passed at your caucus.

Important! At your caucus become a delegate for both your county convention and assembly. The convention, at which delegates vote for the presidential candidate, will likely be very short since President Obama is uncontested.

Your county assembly will follow right after the convention.  It is here that a county platform may be adopted. If the 9/11 resolution is not already on this platform, then you will probably need to present a  petition to your assembly members and get the required number of signatures to be able to present this resolution at your assembly. But call your county chair to be sure about this process.

Remember, at the very least this is a perfect opportunity to educate a few folks!

We will present two films this month.

First, in honor of “Occupy the Courts Day,” organized around the nation by Move to Amend, we will show the 15-minute documentary, A Question of Integrity: Politics, Ethics, and the Supreme Court.  (Be sure to join the OTC rally and march in Denver, which will begin at 10:30 AM, Friday, January 20, on the west steps of the Capitol.)

Narrated by actor, director, and activist Edward James Olmos, this film examines the growing concerns about ethically questionable and overtly political behavior exhibited by some Supreme Court justices and explores the need to apply the same ethical standards that govern all other judges in the federal court system as well as those seated on our nation’s highest court.  For example, Justices Scalia and Thomas allegedly attended a closed-door retreat hosted by Koch Industries, a corporation that supported and benefited from the Citizen United’s decision, which recently dismantled campaign finance laws.

Second, we will show the acclaimed film Gasland (1 hour 40 minutes), which premiered at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival and was awarded the “Special Jury Prize Documentary.”  This film exposes the devastating environmental effects of horizontal hydraulic fracturing, commonly called “fracking,” a means of tapping shale deposits containing natural gas that were previously inaccessible by conventional drilling techniques used by the oil and gas industry.

Coloradans have become increasingly concerned as the use of fracking has expanded along the Front Range, with thousands of wells planned for areas surrounding the cities of Denver, Longmont, and Colorado Springs, as well as within some of our state parks.

Why the concern?  This is what Gasland makes abundantly clear:

Already Garfield and Weld counties in Colorado, as well as areas of Wyoming, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Texas, have experienced extreme environmental degradation, a rash of severe illnesses, earthquakes (where none existed before), the use of billions of gallons of water (a precious resource), and loss of property values (some people have had to simply abandon their homes).

In a 2011 study, “Natural Gas Operations from a Public Health Perspective,” published in Human and Ecological Risk Assessment:  An International Journal, 632 chemicals were identified in the fracking procedures.  Of these only 353 were well-described in the scientific literature.  Of these, more than 75% could affect skin, eyes, respiratory, and gastrointestinal systems; roughly 40-50% could affect the brain and nervous system, the immune and cardiovascular systems, and the kidneys; 37% could affect the endocrine system; and 25% were carcinogens and mutagens.

Another documentary, Split Estate, is devoted solely to how the health and property values of Coloradans on the western slope have already been devastatingly affected.

Arapahoe,” and organizer of an alliance of Colorado grassroots groups, will present on the body of evidence emerging regarding impacts to public health and safety, water, and the environment, uncompensated losses to individuals and local governments, and what we can do about it.

In Boulder and Grand Junction: After the film other speakers (still to be determined) will present on the same emerging evidence.

Fracking is one of the most urgent issues of our day, and if allowed to go unchecked could affect the health and well-being of us all for generations. We urge you to attend and join many of us in Colorado in saying to our officials and the oil and gas companies, “No Fracking Way!”

During this season of light and hope, we are honored to present the inspiring documentary film THRIVE: What On Earth Will It Take? (2 hours, 12 minutes)

Foster Gamble, Executive Producer, was heir to the Proctor and Gamble fortune and was groomed to be a financial leader. Instead, he chose a different path. It all started with a vision he had as a child: a direct experience of universal energy. This epiphany led to a scientific search to figure out how things work.

Eventually, another question plagued him: Why do the majority of humans live in agony and devastation, barely surviving when we could be thriving?

A lifelong search to answer this social question along with his scientific quest into universal energy has led to THRIVE, a master work synthesizing these two seemingly disparate subjects, but as we shall see, not disparate at all. The connecting thread is the desperate human need for “new energy,”–sometimes referred to as “free energy” or “zero-point energy.”

The film’s tapestry connects many suppressed and taboo subjects woven around Gamble’s discovery that there is a pattern of universal energy: the torus. The following are excerpts from the THRIVE website :

Nature appears to rely on one core recurring pattern to evolve life at every scale – the torus. It is a donut shaped energy vortex that you can see everywhere from atoms to galaxies and beyond….

Most torus dynamics actually contain two toruses – called “tori” – like the male and female aspects of the whole – one spiraling one direction toward the north pole and its opposite spinning toward the south pole.

Amazingly, ancient civilizations seemed to know about this universal (free) energy and passed this knowledge on through texts, oral traditions, icons, stone carvings, and various other means.

Foster and his wife, Kimberly Carter Gamble, put their reputations on the line as they expose a plethora of controversial and rigorously suppressed issues. The brutal suppression of “new energy” inventions (based on the torus) is tied hand in hand with the suppression of the UFO phenomenon. We will learn of the equally brutal suppression of medical cures (especially for cancer), and the control of our food and water supplies, education, and much more.  False flag operations and 9/11 are mentioned as one of the methods for orchestrating problems to which certain people suddenly have solutions, such as the Patriot Act and the resource wars benefiting Big Oil.

Who are these people who want so much control? We are told they are a few extremely wealthy families who are bent on “Full Spectrum Dominance.” That means brutal military control of the entire planet–especially from space. But wait. Isn’t that a neoconservative agenda–which President Obama appears to be inexplicably furthering?

Gamble’s research  and the question “Who benefits?” show him that the people (the 99%) are controlled by the government, which is controlled by the corporations, which in turn are controlled by the banking elite–a tiny minority at the top of this pyramid.

But aren’t these wealthy elite simply exploiting bad situations to make money? Surely it is not possible that they could have orchestrated numerous catastrophes, especially the financial meltdowns that have brought so many countries to their knees (with the USA being next in line). Surely they could not have succeeded at such a plan due to the likelihood of incompetence and that “someone would have talked.” Isn’t “boom and bust” just a natural economic cycle?

The Gambles share their inner struggle as their worldview was challenged time and again as they did their research.

They conclude that we are seeing the results of a purposeful Global Domination Agenda–or, if you will, a New World Order–with top-down, brutal military, technical, and cultural control of the mass of humans, due to the worldview of these few very wealthy families being that of scarcity and fear, with total power their ultimate goal.  Foster says on the THRIVE website:

We are careening into a world of a few haves and billions of suffering have-nots. The Global Domination Agenda section of THRIVE and this site make the case that this is not an accident but an intentional plan. It’s hard to imagine the worldview of individuals who would actually spend their days planning the suffering or elimination of others, but it is critical to consider this if we want to protect one another, as well as our planetary home, and to turn the direction of humanity toward thriving.

THRIVE delivers this message: We are at a turning point; the old way of the world is corrupt to its core and destructive to both environment and humans. We have a choice.  We can do nothing and therefore choose planetary destruction and brutal domination by a few elite, or we can choose a new path of “non-violation” whereby all humans and all species thrive. What can we do? We are given helpful suggestions, but primarily, we are advised to inform ourselves and then listen to our own inner guidance and follow that!

Are we humans a mistake, inherently stupid, violent, and disempowered? Or are we naturally cooperative, creative, and powerful? Amazingly, we leave the film uplifted, with the optimism of the latter.

SCADs (State Crimes Against Democracy) and Psychological Resistance to Alternative Accounts

Laurie Manwell, Ph.D. Candidate in Behavioural Neuroscience and Toxicology at the University of Guelph, near Toronto

In this one-hour talk given at the Toronto Hearings during the tenth anniversary week, Laurie Manwell helps us to understand how deceptions such as 9/11 and similar crimes enable the state to “sell” what Laurie calls “democracy for the few” to the broader public, and get them to pay for it.  By a sophisticated emotional manipulation, the state portrays American aggression as pro-democratic and aggression by others as authoritarian, thus justifying increasingly aggressive state behaviors.  Social scientists, academics, and experts are clearly catching on to this game, studying how it works in the minds and emotions of the public at large, and exposing its deceptive logic.  This reflects the next stage of the Truth movement, as we become more skillful at unraveling the resistance to the truth in our culture.  But Laurie’s talk is far from a dry, intellectual presentation.  She is as passionate as she is academic.  Citing incidents from her own life and making many connections between our personal and global lives, she provides us with a rousing call to unmask the criminals of 9/11 for who they are.  Laurie also invites the shoddy journalists of our time to wrestle with her over what really happened on 9/11, and warns them that she holds a black belt in kung fu.  (62 minutes including Q/A)

Next we will see Kevin Danaher speaking at the 9/11 tenth anniversary event in San Francisco, which was titled “9/11: Reclaiming the Truth, Reclaiming our Future.”   It is simply remarkable to see someone of Kevin’s stature as a progressive activist speaking with profound clarity about 9/11 Truth.  In addition to explaining the role of 9/11 in the history of US empire, Kevin discusses the psychological resistance to 9/11 Truth he has encountered even among his progressive friends.  He relates how activists with whom he has worked for years and with whom he has been arrested doing civil disobedience actions have had a really hard time coming to grips with the truth about 9/11, but that more and more of them are now doing so.  Kevin Danaher combines a great wit with a spine of steel, and you’ll enjoy this talk.  As one of the best known and most respected progressive activists in the world, he is a tremendous ally to the 9/11 Truth effort, and this talk is a great one to share with any of our progressive friends still sitting on the fence about 9/11. Is there a tie-in to 9/11 Truth?  9/11 was used to justify the invasion and occupation of weaker countries.   Those who have subscribed to the economic system in which the dollar reigns supreme have been subjected to another form of invasion and enslavement, even a more effective one than military occupation.  We must understand money and how it can be another “weapon of imperialism.”

With five video segments, we will look at what is wrong with our financial system and how it is destructive to individuals, societies, and the environment. Then we’ll explore some specific solutions, including the Public Bank Movement currently under way in fourteen states.

I.  Operation Checkmate: The Pawns Fight Back by Chris Pratt (9 minutes)
Corporate fascism means big business is big government. This is the system we have devolved to in the US.  An unregulated, private Federal Reserve benefits the bankers who own it, not the public, resulting eventually in a police state with horrendous devices to control a restless population, such as the Active Denial System, which can indiscriminately subject an entire crowd of protesters to extreme pain by boiling the water in the epidermis of the skin.  Is this the world that we want for ourselves and our children? What can we do to regain control and refuse to be the pawns in this game?

II.  Taking Control of Our Money by Bob Bows (8 minutes)
There are many sacred cows in different cultures. One of our sacred cows is Wall Street.  We are told that due to our extreme indebtedness, there is not enough money for public services. However, the US has plenty of money–it’s just in the hands of the banks and corporations, not the people.

Money represents debt and our economic system requires debt. The Federal Reserve is a privately owned bank which serves its owners, the “too-big-to-fail” banks.  In 2008, the bailout of these banks cost the taxpayers $16 trillion, whereas the debt of the entire 235-year history of the US was $14 trillion!  This money could have secured the public interest but was instead diverted to shore up private interests.  It was an unprecedented transfer of wealth to the richest segment of society with US taxpayers left holding the bag!

What is the solution?  One possibility is public banks, as we can see with the example of the Bank of North Dakota.  The economic crisis of 2008 did not result in a budget crisis for this state, since its public bank invests in Main Street, not Wall Street.  Join us and learn more about how North Dakota remains solvent and is thriving!

III. James Turk Interviews Marion Mueller (15 minutes)
James Turk, Director of The Gold Money Foundation (www.goldmoney.com), interviews founder of www.OrovFinanzas.com., the first website educating Spanish-speaking peoples about gold.  Mueller tells us that money is at the core of democratic systems.  Without an understanding of money and the role of gold, we cannot have a democracy.  We need a level playing field on which everyone can participate on the same footing.  How do we succeed with this transformation?  It is not by revolution in the streets, but by working for a new economic system based on “sound money.”  The most important thing is transparency.  In Spain, the unemployment is over 20% and for the youth, it is over 40%.  This could happen in the U.S. if we fail to transform the current system!

IV. Decoded: Fort Knox, a recent episode from Brad Meltzer’s “Decoded” series (The History Channel) (44 minutes)
With a format similar to the TV series Conspiracy Theory with Jesse Ventura, Brad Meltzer and his team investigate the rumor that there is no gold in Ft. Knox, Kentucky, the heavily guarded structure built to house the gold that was forcibly collected from US citizens under Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1933.  The public has not seen this gold since 1974.

In 1971, the US moved from a gold-backed to a confidence-based dollar, which relies on supply and demand to determine what a dollar is worth.  So why can’t we see the gold and why would the government lie to us?  Would they? Could they?  We will hear from a gold expert from GATA (Gold Anti-Trust Action Committee) about the rigging of the price of gold and why it matters, from a foreign policy analyst, from a Princeton graduate in Financial Engineering living off the grid, and from a former US Senator from Kentucky, Dee Huddleston.

Questions explored and answered in this fascinating program:
Has the gold in Ft. Knox been sold or compromised over the decades to suppress the price of gold in the open market and thus maintain the illusion of a strong dollar?  Chris Powell of GATA asserts that this gold price suppression has been the central objective of US foreign policy for over fifty years.  By maintaining the illusion of a strong dollar, he claims that the US has been able to use its advantage in the currency markets as a weapon of imperialism to dominate and indeed enslave other countries.

What would be the impact on the US dollar if there really is no gold in Ft. Knox, or if we no longer own whatever gold might still be there?

The program ends ominously while reminding us that whatever difficulties lie ahead, we must have confidence not in gold but in each other to make it through.

V. Money as Debt (final 18 minutes)
This film explores a public money system.  We will discover:

1) Why is exponential growth necessary for our current economic system and how is this devastating for a sustainable economy and for the environment?

2) What does it mean to have a value-based public money system rather than the gold standard?  Could this system put an end to the unsustainable economic growth curve which so threatens the welfare of our planet and serves only the elite, not the entire population?

As we explore our economic system in these documentaries, we will find agreement that the Federal Reserve system, which is governed by private banks and serves the interests of banksters and not the people, is unworkable and must be reformed.  We will look at two of the most commonly proposed solutions:  a system based on what is called “sound money,” or money backed by gold, silver, or other real goods; and a public economic system which advocates for the increase of money based on the increase of value in a community.  We’ll look at the Bank of North Dakota, the only state-owned bank in our nation, which incorporates elements of this approach and promotes local sovereignty and freedom from Wall Street.  An interesting discussion should follow!
